Guest Porker Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Hello, I have posted here some time ago and have now driven my Alhambra TDI for 12 months with low power. 8 trips to main dealer, 8 times said they'de fixed it, 8 times within 250 yards I can confirm they didn't! To confirm it's not just me and high expectations, the MOT tester (who has a 90bhp Galaxy) said I've got a serious lack of power. Anyway my vehicle now has a new engine ( Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Oh dear, not still using Focus Seat or whatever they are called now, are you? Tried Wiltshire and sons in Farnham? Maybe time to start getting Seat UK involved, not been having much luck with your Alhambra, have you? - or maybe bite the bullet and trade it in for another one? Quote
charles Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 It's a bit similar to the problem I had with my car. The Ford dealer could not find error codes, so it had no fault! But the engine ran terrible. It took me months but at the end I found the fault by myselves (thanks to internet and this excellent forum). The sensor wire loom was damaged, causing strange and intermittent behaviour, such a cutting out, loss of power. Some wires of the sensor loom shorted/disconnected so the ECM could not make anything of it. Although I already was thinking to exchange the car, It's no driving perfectly again. the lesson: don't give up. Quote
Guest Porker Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Thanks Ivor. I haven't been back to Focus and remember your advice some time back to try the guys in Farnham. It's closer to where I work as well. Service is due and they've sent me a reminder which has got me back on the case. What got me thinking about using them is that the temp light started flashing the other day (although the temp was OK) and I immediately thought head gasket!. I guess this is low water, I topped it up and its fine. The water sensor seems quite sensitive in mine. Anyone else found this? The engine is coming up for 12 months end of June so I was keen they fixed it under warranty if this was the problem. I paid top whack for a seat approved engine because I didn't want a problem to be the other persons fault. All Seat, it must be Seat's responsibility. I probably will trade up to another but need to sell my 911 first. Any takers? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 30, 2004 Report Posted May 30, 2004 Latest shape 4S? Hmm, maybe in a few years' time...... As to the low water level, we had a recent posting on this topic, and it was the same light flashing that drew attention to the problem, so it looks like it is an undocumented feature that the temp light flashes to indicate low coolant level.
